Dolan José

Dolan José was born in the Philippines and grew up in Vancouver, Canada. His training includes a full scholarship at EDGE Performing arts Center in Hollywood where he studied singing, acting and dancing.

Dolan danced for various artists like “Salt’n’pepa” in the Hollywood film “Stay tuned!” and the video clip “Start me up”, Ex-“no Angels” Vanessa in “Drama Queen”, Natasha Thomas in “Save your kisses” and Frankee’s “F**K you right back” to name a few. He danced in shows like “Wetten das?”, “Top of the Pops”, “Viva Interaktiv”, “and The McChart Show”, “The Dome”, ARD’s “Immer wieder Sonntags” and ZDF’s “Fernsehgarten”. Dolan played small roles in the television series “Booker”, “21 Jump Street” and “the Black Stallion Returns”

Dolan started choreographing in Canada for the CBC and CTV. In Germany he choreographed the “Top of the Pops” performance of Otto Waalkes “Sieben Zwerge”, for Diesel and Mister & Lady Jeans, the motion picture “Männer Herzen II” , Joana Zimmer’s “Brining down the Moon” and successfully trained and choreographed Clemens Schick for the opening of the “New Faces Awards” in Berlin. Dolan choreographed various artists like Michelle Hunziker, Mariella Ahrens, Ex-No Angels Lucy Diakovska, Kate Hall, Samantha Fox, Right said Fred, Sydney Youngblood and Belinda Carlisle in RTL II’s ABBA MANIA. Dolan José has choreographed promotions in “live” television shows like “Dirty Dancing” in the “Carmen Nebel Show”, “Hinterm Horizont” in “Goldene Henne” , “Joana Zimmer” in “José Carerras Gala” and MDR’s “Musik für Sie” and worked with renowned directors like Pit Weyrich and Joachim Jäckel. Dolan also choreographed the short film “Habe keine angst mein Herz” written and directed by Aleksandar Jovanovic for ARTE.

Dolan José was a member of the original cast of the musical, “Miss Saigon” in Toronto, Canada. He has also played the role of Tyronne Jackson in “FAME! The Musical”. Other musicals include “Hello! Dolly” and “Pirates of Penzance”. Not only did Dolan played the roles of “Rusty”, “Electra”, and “Caboose” in the most successful musical in the world – “Starlight Express” – He was responsible for the show choreographically as Dance Captain. In Berlin Dolan returned to the musical stage with “Dirty Dancing” where he played the roles of “Mr. Schumacher” and “Tito Suarez” and was dance captain and assistant resident director. Directly after he was involved in the creative process of the new Udo Lindenberg hit musical “Hinterm Horizont”’ where he also was dance captain and assistant resident director. Dolan was also Skate Coach for the world premiere of “Rudolf” in Vienna. He also sang in many Company Galas for companies such as Fujitsu Siemens Computers, Hannover Finanz, Nike, Puma, Mercedes and Sparda Bank.

Dolan made his Directing debut for “Maenner minne” Concert 2003 where he was also responsible for the choreography. Dolan directed and choreographed the “Miss Philippines Germany” in Oberhausen, the Neukölner production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Joseph und sein Brüder” and “The Time Machine” in Dresden for Catwork. His musical “Ich kann, also bin ich” which he wrote, directed and choreographed was nominated for the “Jugend Kulturpreis 2012”; a project for disadvantaged children. Dolan continued working with disadvantaged children through the project “Hinterm Horizont macht Schule” in Leipzig where he directed and choreographed a children’s version of Udo Lindenberg’s musical “Hinterm Horizont” – made possible by the “Udo Lindenberg Stiftung” and the “Wiedeking Stiftung”.
